How I Brew Rooted (My Coffee Alternative Ritual)

Rooted is one of my favorite blends. I actually created it when I realized I really needed to cut back on coffee. I tried some of the alternatives out there… and honestly I was disappointed. Most of them either tasted like mud or didn’t have any benefits worth the cost.

I wanted something that felt cozy and rich like coffee, but actually supported my body.

What I love about this blend isn’t just the flavor — it’s the benefits. It’s filled with herbs that support gut health, liver and digestion. At the time, I was dealing with adult acne, leaky gut, and frequent stomach pain. Adding Rooted (along with herbs like marshmallow root) made a noticeable difference in how I felt day to day and man it felt good to have clear skin.

Now I genuinely drink Rooted almost every day, or at least several times a week. It’s earthy, grounding, and comforting — like a warm cup of coffee, but nourishing and gentle. I’m a big believer in daily rituals that actually make you feel good, not just wired.

Since it’s packed with antioxidants, I like to make a big batch at once and store it in the fridge. It stays fresh for 5–7 days, which makes it easy to grab whenever I want a cup.

Because this blend is made with roots and barks, it’s best prepared as a decoction. That simply means simmering the herbs to fully extract their deep flavor and benefits.

Here’s exactly how I make mine:

Add the herbs to a pot with cool water and bring to a gentle simmer.
Let simmer for 10–20 minutes (your kitchen will smell amazing).
Turn off the heat, let cool, then strain and pour into a jar or pitcher with a lid.

That’s it — ready for the week.

I’ll heat up a mug in the morning or pour it over ice in the afternoon and then add a splash of something creamy — my favorites are unsweetened Nutpods or Silk coconut oat half & half. If I’m in the mood for a treat, a little maple syrup or extra cinnamon makes it extra cozy.

Enjoy, tea friends
